Vaginal Rejuvenation

Hormonal changes, childbirth, and aging can all cause significant physiological changes to the female genitalia. The Process

Consult

During your initial visit, expect to provide your complete medical history, including all your medications, allergies, and previous surgeries. You’ll also undergo an extensive physical exam and blood tests before your surgeon takes photographs to aid in planning and performing your vaginal rejuvenation surgery. Finally, you’ll receive important instructions to prepare you for your procedure, as well as a realistic explanation of the results you can expect to achieve.

Procedure

Vaginal rejuvenation surgery covers three different procedures– labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction, and vaginoplasty. Labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction both involve your surgeon removing excess vaginal skin, whereas excess vaginal tissue is removed from the vaginal wall during vaginoplasty.

Femtouch is a non-surgical procedure that uses CO2 laser technology to remodel vaginal tissue to promote new tissue growth and collagen production. All of these procedures can be performed in conjunction with one another.

Recovery

After surgery, you will experience some discomfort once your anesthesia wears off. Our goal is to keep you as comfortable as possible. So, your surgeon will provide you with medication to mitigate your pain and soreness. Any swelling will be substantially reduced approximately one month after your surgery. At that time, you may also resume your regular level of physical activity. Be sure to ask your surgeon about any concerns or questions you have about the recovery process.

Post Surgery

Following vaginal rejuvenation, occlusive ointment (Aquaphor) or vaginal hydrating gel (RepHresh) can be used to soothe and keep the treatment area moist for up to 1 week. Refrain from sex and avoid baths, hot tubs, saunas, and swimming for 72 hours following the procedure. Your surgeon will provide a list of specific post-surgery instructions specific to the procedures you choose during your initial consultation.

FAQs

Aviva is an alternative to labiaplasty and is non-surgical.  It does not require anesthesia. Your surgeon may examine you during your preoperative visit and will inform you of anything you will need to do to prepare for your procedure.

Operating time for surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedures (Labiaplasty, Clitoral Hood Reduction, and Vaginoplasty) is about one hour. Femtouch non-surgical, vaginal rejuvenation procedure takes 3 minutes.

Most patients can return to work within a few days and resume strenuous activities and exercise within 2-3 weeks. Your doctor will follow your progress closely and advise you as to which activities are safe during your healing process.

Sexual activity can be resumed 4-6 weeks after vaginal rejuvenation surgery– labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction and vaginoplasty. If you only had Aviva vaginal rejuvenation, you can resume sexual activity 72 hours following the procedure.

Birth trauma can result in tears regardless of whether or not you had a labiaplasty. However, these tears are usually not along the labiaplasty incision.

No. Labiaplasty reduces the size of the labia to reduce or eliminate pain experienced by women during sex. Vaginoplasty, in comparison, treats vaginal wall laxity, which increases friction resulting in increased pleasure for both partners during sex.
